Whitney LaRene

Whitney LaRene, was born and raised just outside of Seattle, Wa. Whitney spends most of her effort on her drip painting series. She attempted her first drip painting of a self portrait just over a year ago and has been dedicating her time to developing her skill ever since. The work shown was created using a dripping technique that was dripped directly onto a completely blank canvas, paper, or wood. The fluid use of enamel and acrylic paint gives the piece a unique boldness. She also enjoys doing ink and watercolors in a similar style emulating the look and feel of the drips but with the ability to work on a much smaller scale and let\'s face it, less mess. The video of The Octopus, included in this profile, was her first video that she recorded and is her largest piece to date measuring 3 x 4 feet.
