Photography – Minneapolis

Having been raised in the Northland created the perfect atmosphere for Whitney to develop a passion for the arts. Since she was a child, Whitney was an inventive visionary. She spent much of her time expressing her thoughts and ideas through drawings while also taking pictures of the interesting things discovered in her backyard. Her passion for the arts only increased, as she grew older. Whitney began studying photography at Central Lakes College in the fall of 2014. She earned a place on the Dean’s list and President’s list multiple times throughout her college career. Whitney has also been honored to be part of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. Whitney finished her studies at Central Lakes College in the spring of 2016. She graduated with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Photographic Imaging Technology and a certificate in Matting and Framing. While she was studying photography, she earned awards for some of her photography. In the summer of 2015, she received the Grand Campion award and first place, at the Carlton County Fair, for her matted and framed image she created at CLC. In the winter of 2016, she and her classmates, entered in the American Advertising Federation of Central Minnesota Addy competition and Whitney received two AAFCM awards for her photography. In the summer of 2016, Whitney had two images featured in the AICHO galleries in Duluth, MN. In the winter of 2017, out of 200+ entries in Make It Minnesota's and Visit Cook County's Instagram Photo Contest, Whitney's work made it to the Top 10 entries! Her photograph will be published in the Finding Warmth Issue of Make It Minnesota's magazine as well as their website along with a print displayed at Visit Cook County's office in Grand Marais, MN. She plans on entering more competitions in the future. Her photography as also been featured on local news stations, many Facebook pages including Destination Duluth and Only in Minnesota, and multiple Instagram accounts. After graduation, she relocated back to the Twin Ports region in hopes to continue growing and developing in her photography experiences.
