William Ross the Wood Phoenix

Visual Art – Dallas - Fort Worth

I bridge the classical technique of pyrography (wood burning) with a modern flair. My range varies from realism, abstract, to expressionism. I have taken this craft and the classical forms of Pyrography to create a modern twist. Fine details in my work are created with the use of a woodburning pen that gets up to 1000 degrees. Recently I have incorporated a torching method with butane and propane tanks. The larger areas in my work are created by using the torch. With enough control, you can create an image with just an open flame. The modern spin with my artwork is the use of paint, watercolor, coffee grounds, and torched paint.
