Whiskey and Stitches

Music – Sacramento

Whiskey and Stitches play Irish, Americana, and original music as if people in the hills of Appalachia had amplifiers and electric guitars (and electrified mandolins) in the 1920\'s. The band has won two SAMMIE (Sacramento Grammy) Awards for its work and has gigged most Sacramento-area venues. W&S has played major events such as the great KVMR Celtic Festival in Grass Valley, Sonora Celtic, Eurofest, St. Patrick\'s Day Concert in the Park (De Vere\'s), and the Summer Concert Series at Cesar Chavez Park, headlining in 2010 with Bastards of Young and Final Summation and with Bright Faces supporting Nickel Slots in 2011.The band takes Irish folk and Americana and turns it on its head - exactly the way musicians would who respect the tradition and have grown up with rock and punk influences. The group\'s staging of IRISHPALOOZA each year is not to be missed. Whiskey and Stitches tip its hat to the Clancy Brothers, Dubliners, Pogues, Flogging Molly, Ralph Stanley, Utah Phillips, The Ramones, and Social Distortion, among others. If you want some high-energy music performed by musicians who really enjoy gigging with each other, then do yourself a favor and check out Whiskey and Stitches.
