Romane Young

Visual Art – New York - NYC

Although I let my art work speak for itself I believe I should let you know a little more about myself, the artist. My name is Romane Young I was born and raised in the district of Milk River, Clarendon Jamaica W.I. I developed my love for art in primary school at the age of twelve. I can remember at a parish wide art festival, looking at the many different art pieces and admiring the brush strokes on each panting and the way the artists\' captured the objects in their work. The use of colors, lighting and perspective made me want to figure out what was going through the artist mind. While in Garvey Maceo High School my art teacher Mr. Atkinson recognized my talents and encouraged me to pursue my passion in art. From thlen on he took me under his wing, nurtured me and taught me the principles of art. A few years after graduating high school, I went on to enter a National Festival of Art competition in 2006. There I received an award from the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC). This award motivated me even more to advance my passion in art. I then entered various art shows such as the Mandevill Art Fear and the Art\'ical Expo in Jamaica, where I was able to sell my art work. Throughout the years I have traveled all over Jamaica gaining inspiration from the breath taking scenic views. As a self taught artist, I always welcome new challenges and push myself to the limit. Now living in New York, I am once again faced with new challenges, a new culture and a great deal of new scenery. I welcome it with open arms and I\'ll see where it will take me. I hope you can be apart of my journey!
