Visual Art – Miami

Some artists are born. Some are made. Others take life experience and it becomes their art. Rudolph Jean-Louis embodies a bit of all three. He’s a world observer, photographer, geometrical artist and two-time Renal Failure survivor. All of which, lends to his unique artistry. Not surprisingly, Jean-Louis’s artist spirit began when he was young. He liked to draw buildings and abstract things as a child. His love of drawing evolved into photography, when he joined the Marines at 17. With the Point-and-shoot Cannon he brought with him to Iraq, he chronicled the culture, the children and the scenery that surrounded him while on tour for Desert Storm. His first brush with renal failure happened while in Cuba for the Haitian Refugee Crisis. He was on dialysis for a year and half before his mother gave him a kidney and a new lease, not only on his life, but also his photography. Fast forward 13 years. Jean-Louis moved to Miami from Philadelphia, his transplanted kidney failed, and his next phase of artistry began—-what he calls Geometrical Art. “It started with doodling on graph paper with markers and it evolved into elaborate paint on canvas pieces. It’s evolved still into 3-D, furniture and moveable pieces.” Since 2011 Jean-Louis has created over 400 geometrical art pieces and creates more every single day.\"Art is whatever you want it to be. I create so people can get simple, pure enjoyment out of it. There are no rules, that\'s the best part.\"
