Ian Henderson was born in Europe and grew up in Germany, Spain and the United States. He studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. After receiving his degree in Metalsmithing from MassArt in 2003, he continued to hone his skills working in the musical instrument industry and as a freelance fabricator. In 2009, he launched Zoa Chimerum, a line of biomorphic jewelry made from repurposed electronics materials such as aluminum grounding wire and rubber insulation sheathing. The forms are reminiscent of sea creatures, flowers, and insect parts. In addition to Zoa Chimerum, he continues to produce sculptural works for gallery exhibitions in the United States and Europe.
