Akeem Edwards

Performing Art – Atlanta

Akeem Edwards is a native of Jacksonville Florida. He began his training at the age of 16 at the Northside Centre of the Arts and after a year progressed to the Jacksonville Centre of the Arts Pre-Professional Program. Under the direction of Kezia Rolle, he received training in ballet, modern, jazz, West African, tap, and hip-hop styles. Before heading off to college, Akeem danced 3 seasons as a soloist with CooperMorgan Dance Theatre. He has received his Bachelor's of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice from Florida Atlantic University, where he also founded Pulse Dance Troupe, FAU's only registered student organizations for dance. While at the University, he trained under the Director of Dance, Clarence Brooks. Akeem danced four seasons with the Repertory Dance Theatre Ensemble, FAU's professional dance company and has now relocated to Atlanta, GA. He is currently in his second season with Gotta Dance Contemporary Dance Company. He hopes to take advantage of each dance opportunity, choreographing and performing, and use it to build his own reputable company.
