Abbey

Visual Art – Sydney

Abbey is a stencil artist and illustrator based in Sydney, and working as a graphic designer full time. She creates stencils of those who really inspire and interest her. With an influence of popular culture, history and the unknown, Abbey often juxtaposes them against an urban grunge background and appropriates imagery using collage and a combination of materials and paints to constantly experiment and create a different effect on each artwork. All the stencils used are cut out by hand by Abbey. As well as putting her art onto canvas, Abbey experiments on different surfaces, paper, board, wall. She also creates record clocks, by stenciling old vinyl records and turning them into working clocks. Abbey has been involved in group exhibitions at the Hardware Gallery, Plump Gallery, The Wall, Tortuga Studios, Smart Arts Exhibition and The Newsagency Gallery all in Sydney. Along with 2 other artists Abbey won the Peoples Choice at the Smart Arts Exhibition in 2012.
