Visual Art – Pomona
My name is Sylvia Djemant, a Los Angeles-based artist mainly working in oil on canvas. I've received my BFA from CSUF, with a concentration in drawing and painting.
Drawing and painting is my life‘s true passion; the only thing I’ve ever known that is bona fide and preordained has been art.
Cartoons were the underpinning; The Pink Panther played before my eyes at a very young age and from there, real life advanced forward. Video games were soon conquered thereafter, but the games were not played - instead they were paused and the characters realistically drawn. The same passion for art that intensified from cartoons and animation, quickly transformed into realism/photographical works with a fixation on portraiture.
To be intrigued by a photo, a subject, a situation in general is the deciding factor of whether or not it will become art. If there is no passion felt for works in query then it is out-of-question.
To visually relate the contemporary human experience with sensitivity, empathy, and integrity is key.
