Rebecca Cragg,B.A.,M.A., B.Ed., lived seven years in Japan (1998 – 2005) where she worked full time as an English instructor. During evenings, she trained nightly in Chanoyu, Kimono Dressing, Japanese Painting (Suibokuga) and Ikebana. After achieving a good foundation in these traditional arts in Japan, she has continued to devote herself to ongoing studies by returning for intensive training with her teachers in Japan for 3 – 5 weeks every 18 months. Mrs. Cragg has extensive public speaking and event planning experience, and has presented at most of Canada’s national museums and on many occasions at the Japanese embassy and official residence. Rebecca worked 2005 – 2006 at the Embassy of Japan as National JET (Japan Exchange Teaching) Programme Coordinator (of which she is an alumni). She worked as Executive Director of Asian Heritage Month Society in 2007 and since 2008 has worked on developing Camellia Teas of Ottawa as a solo entrepreneur. Study in the traditional arts of Japan is commonly viewed as a lifelong commitment. Rebecca makes this commitment for herself and her own growth as an artist-practitioner, and to her teachers in Japan and Canada in order to better serve her students and guests here in Ottawa. But most importantly, she makes this effort for all the Camellia Teas of Ottawa Guests, Students and Supporters Rebecca Cragg holds certificates in Chanoyu, Sencha Do and Ikebana and has received outstanding training in painting. She has competed (and won) national-level kimono exhibitions in Japan.
