Cassity BIshop

Visual Art – Salt Lake City

Soon after Cassity Bishop was born in winter of 1994, she began accompanying her parents and older sister on trips to the great outdoors with a disposable camera. She remembers eagerly waiting for her film to be developed. While she loved seeing her adventures, she never felt fully connected to the actual experience through film, no matter how many pictures she took. Cassity soon found a way to bridge the emotional gap, and capture the full experience. By taking a sketch pad, her creative drawings became a way of re-living the full emotional spectrum. She has documented dozens of whitewater rafting trips, skiing, horseback riding and spending time with her first dog, a yellow Labrador named Blondie. By the time Cassity reached high school, her talent had grown to the point she was named art-club president. Then brimming with confidence she enrolled in pre-requisites to be an art major art at Utah State University, but found the classroom setting a bit stifling. She took a leave of absence and worked as a water safety and professional ski instructor. Cassity later re-enrolled at USU where she found the perfect fit. She is an outdoor product design major, blending her love of all things outdoors with her creative talent. Cassity perpetually paints and creates for her own enjoyment. She is self-taught in painting and loves experimenting with oils and acrylics. Vibrant colors are ever present in her work, a metaphor for how she is feeling. She looks forward to a life of creativity and dreams of someday making a living from capturing the emotional essence of her outdoor experiences. Her artwork is on Instagram @artbycassb where she enjoys interacting with and welcoming new followers.
