Ciara Anais Stewart

Visual Art – Raleigh

Ciara Anais Stewart is a multidisciplinary artist and Studio Art major from Brooklyn, New York. She began her art career with street photography; documenting the unidealized yet spirited lives of native New Yorkers. With her continued interest in rendering human subjects, she began painting portraits and experimenting with various mediums (e.g. cardboard, wood, and canvas). Her work is an honest, undiluted examination that provides commentary on the status quo and marginalized Black identities. Each piece incorporates motifs of Black resilience and resistance. Using bold, vivid strokes and contemporary imagery, she portrays Black life in ways that brighten melancholic subject matter. In the coming months, she plans to capture the aforementioned concepts with experimental collaging, printmaking, and sculpturing.
