Visual Art – Austin

I grew up being an avid artist, primarily drawing with graphite. I wasn't too bad and won a couple of awards when I was in High School. Fast forward, I gave up art. Yep, for 20 years I didn't lift a pencil again. At least for me and maybe many artists out there, we get told that we should work and do something more practical. You will starve if you become an artist. All those doubts kept me from creating. I didn't think I was good enough to be successful. About 7 years ago, I decided to pick up art again. It started small with pencil drawings that have evolved into full on mixed media art. I paint in acrylics and watercolor, I draw in charcoal, and I create throwing as much as I can into one piece. I am still evolving and still trying to train my mind and my hand to be more raw with my art and shush those old teachings out of my head. I didn't start selling art until last year at the suggestion of my husband. I wouldn't have gone forward with that were it not for his support.
