Visual Art – Raleigh

Mindfulness, the act of being more present, is a recurring theme throughout my body of work. In our fast-paced world, it can be easy to become swept up into the web of technology. The intention of my artwork is to redirect our awareness, and to reconnect us with the natural world. Looking at my body of work, viewers feel as though they have stumbled upon this exact moment, frozen in time. My art process is a mixture of both drawing and painting. While studying in art school, I found myself being strongly influenced by artists such as Chuck Close and Kehinde Wiley, and how they create a paint portraiture so realistically. I admire the technical aspects these artists use to paint in a naturalistic and contemporary style that creates a subject that feels and looks alive. My artistic goals are to practice a photorealistic attention to detail in my own work.
