Crystal Lopez

Growing up in a traditional family and refusing to play the part of the traditional female has always inspired Crystal\'s work. She grew up in Brooklyn and for many years photographed the world around her. Although her work is still very autobiographical, Delicate Deteriorations are not historical re-enactments depicting childhood events but rather physical manifestations of how she felt as a young woman growing up in a modern society while still being told that trivial, and often degrading tasks, were what constituted a woman’s duties and purpose in life.
