Visual Art – Kansas City

My name is Dia Saunders, to start simple. I spent my early life growing up in Springfield, Missouri. After graduating high school, I ventured to Kansas City, Missouri to attend the Kansas City Art Institute. As of 2015, I am a Bachelor of Fine Arts candidate for the class of 2015, and have been graciously awarded the KCAI Trustee’s Scholarship four years running. As part of my studies, I have interned for Jori Cheville at the Red Star Studios gallery in Kansas City, as well as a studio assistant to Misty Gamble—a Kansas City local ceramic artist and professor at the Kansas City Art Institute. I also work as the department’s chair assistant; curating shows in the Ken Ferguson Teaching Collection and cataloguing newly donated works into the collection being my primary duties. My work has been exhibited multiple times in the Richard Stern Ceramics Building in Kansas City, MO. My most recent work was shown in the 2014 exhibition “ADDmix.”
