Erica "RhapsodE" Hawthorne

Performing Art – Philadelphia

Erica is quite at home on stage and with a mic in hand as a performance artist, theatre actor, event emcee, radio and television co-host and keynote speaker. As a performance artist she has featured at festivals, colleges and venues throughout the country, under the pseudonym: RhapsodE and culminated her work into a CD project: Spoke Inward. Erica has featured at regional theaters throughout Philadelphia including Barley Sheaf Playhouse, Hedgerow Theatre and Swarthmore Players. As event emcee and host, Erica brings her energy, humor and professionalism to stage and has been the featured emcee for Campus Philly’s CollegeFest (3 years), Philly DoGooder Awards, Barnes Foundation College Night and the Food Trust Night Market (Lancaster Avenue). Erica is co-founder and co-host for The Harvest, Philadelphia’s largest open mic event, currently in its seventh year of production, highlighting the talents of established and up-and-coming performance, visual and craft artists. Inspired by her work and experience as an independent artist, Erica founded Small But Mighty Arts in 2012 upon receiving a Knight Foundation Challenge Grant. Erica serves as executive director of the program with a mission to connect Philadelphia artists to micro-funding, capacity-building opportunities, community impact projects and professional development resources.
