Fritz Pielstick

Visual Art – Los Angeles

I am mostly self-taught and draw almost exclusively from imagination, rather than observation. I started drawing when I was five. During this time of boundless childhood imagination, I became enthralled with cities and city skylines, and began to draw them constantly. This ingited a love affair with architecture and urban design. However, after dropping out of architecture school in a spiral of quarter-life confusion, I was beckoned into the world of psychedelic and surrealist art, and began fusing my architecturally-minded techniques and firm emphasis on precision and detail with the mind-bending, boundlessly imaginative aesthetics of psychedelia. In the meantime, I have have also explored abstract expressionism. Using a technique that nixes brushes in favor of torn pieces of card stock, and often involves squirting acrylic paint directly onto the canvas, I create bold, angular, geometric and linear compositions that reveal unfolding layers of color and texture. My favorite mediums are ink, colored pencil, and acrylic paint. I am a 2013 graduate of the University of Southern California, with a B.A. in political science. https://www.facebook.com/FritzPielstickArt http://fritzpielstickart.blogspot.com/
