Shannon’s work challenges the way art is perceived by the viewer. She manifests didactic outcomes through mixed media paintings. In doing so, she coerces the viewer to engage in introspection by tapping into their subconscious to dissect and digest their identity. Shannon tackles themes surrounding nostalgia and self-awareness. Visually, her work is almost always inspired by the natural world and figure. She takes this inspiration, pairs it with bright colors and contrasting sultry hues, and contorts it in ways which results in a surrealistic and fantastical aesthetic.
