Visual Art – Brisbane

Gin Sen is a French-Australian, Brisbane based interdisciplinary artist working with oil paint, acrylics, watercolour, pencils, multimedia and sculpture. GinSen focuses on the beauty that can be found in many places around us and tries to convey what she sees to the viewer. Her work is designed to give a sense of realism to the spectator so he can see the beauty of the lines, the curves, the colours, the forms and most importantly the light. Gin Sen started drawing at the age of 13. Due to family pressures, she did not follow the art path at first but continued drawing every day. Eventually, she did a semester of preparation to fine arts in Madrid, Spain which taught her to refine her drawing techniques and then she started a preparation to Fine Arts in Paris, France with the view of going into Beaux Arts Paris. Unfortunately, in Paris her professors were so focused on the concept behind the art that she felt she was barely drawing, painting and getting her hands into art. That left her feeling that her parents had always been right and that she could never be an Artist. So she started a career in banking, felt unfulfilled and put drawing aside. Soon after the last of her three children was born, it was discovered he had cerebral palsy. That forced Gin Sen to stop her career in banking to take care of her son. In her spare time, she took to drawing and painting again. In the midst of being a full time carer, Gin Sen questioned herself and her future. Was she ever going to be able to go back to a 9 to 5 job where she felt unhappy? So, when her son started school, she decided that Art is many things and being an artist is a broad term. GinSen believes that not all Art has to convey complicated concepts and messages. She is now painting and drawing daily on a very diverse portfolio. Gin Sen has a few areas of focus such as portraits, animals, nudes and landscapes.
