Photography – New York - Brooklyn

Heidi Kikel is a photographer/videographer born and raised in Ridgewood NY. A 2004 graduate of Hofstra University with her B.A. in TV/Video Production and a Minor in F.A. Photography, she’s worked on numerous projects (both stills and video) with NYC models, actors, musicians, comedians and local businesses for the last decade. Her still work has been seen on websites and magazines such as LaughSpin.com, NextMagazine.com and her most recent editorial was in Tattoo Master Magazine as a featured artist for issue #27 where she wrote a 4 page tutorial aimed at tattoo artists and how to better capture their work through the use of proper lighting techniques. From photographing her pet cat’s articulated skeleton and various skulls from her collection, to sticking leeches on her face for a unique self portrait, Heidi will go above and beyond to get an interesting shot, even if it ends up with her a bloody mess. While her commissioned work is vibrant and focused, her personal work is often dark and disturbing, but at the same time beautifully captured, as seen in her “Beauty In What Remains” series.
