Toronto-based designer Sarin Khederian is an Armernian who was born in Syria and raised in Lebanon. After high school, she attended a fashion design college in Syria, but had to flee the country When the war started, leaving behind her fashion dream, she settled in Lebanon and attended art school, graduating with the top creative student award, following college, she worked as floor organizer and an assistant to well-known couturier Krikor Jabotian. When I worked at Krikor, I realized I had ideas and designing was something I wanted to do, “says Khederian”. “I express myself through what I wear. Clothing is not just about covering the body. It’s about sending a message to other people. I wanted to help people do that. At the age of 26, she moved to Toronto with her family as a political asylum seeker and enrolled in the Toronto Film School fashion design program to finish what she started. She graduated in 2018 Her brand S-Kest is based on the initials of her name, as well as “eskest” , the Armenian word for costume. “I don’t follow Fashion, I create It” she says.
