Visual Art – Austin

I was born in Pasadena, grew up in Houston, and moved to Austin in 1993 to obtain a BFA from UT, which occurred in 2000. The theme of my art is the study and practice of Recognizing Resemblances in patterns and Extracting them from various mediums such as clouds, scribbles, drip paintings and even peanuts. My most exciting discovery is the Old Man in the Peanut, otherwise known as the Sage of the Leguminati. I give presentations on Extractionism - expanding the way people see while heightening creativity levels. My life's goal is to create the Universal Painting Project - an abstract drip painting that travels to galleries around the World with an invitation to everyone to Extract a scene of their own. Participants will color-in prints of the drip painting - imbibing it with value by using colors and symbols of their culture. The digital display of all Extractions will serve as an example of unity and peace - art's most noble of facets.
