Music – Canberra

Born in Brisbane music has always been a huge part of James’ life. Growing up in a musically inclined family James has drawn his roots from Jazz, Blues, Funk and Pop music. As a child he starred in multiple musicals and learnt how to play the piano. At twelve years of age he began a life-long love affair with the acoustic and electric guitar, and discovered bands such as Fountains of Wayne and Phoenix. Throughout school he played bass guitar in different jazz groups and at fourteen began writing his own songs and performing at venues across the City of Brisbane. At the age of eighteen James moved to Canberra to study Media Arts at University. James Anthony has taken Canberra by storm, performing at venues and events across the city. In 2013 he was given a permanent residency at Tongue and Groove, performing every Thursday night. James Anthony today boasts a well balanced musical personality; writing, performing and producing his own music. Moving to Canberra introduced James to the clubbing scene which sparked his love for synths and drum based music. He has fused club influences with his blues and funk guitar background to create a truly unique performance. His solo show involves a high energy loop-set consisting of funky guitar, smooth vocal effects and electric drum pads. Keep your eye on this funkster if groovin and movin is your thing.
