Visual Art – Washington, D.C.

My passion for ART goes beyond the initial visual experience. I grew up believing that life was about fun and enjoying what you do. Yet there was a struggle with my environment where much of what could be easily learned was how to cause trouble. As I got older, sports began to become a positive interest in my life. I tried it all- football, volleyball, tennis, basketball, even soccer. As I developed athletically, I started to court the idea of becoming a professional basketball player, but I knew that the likelihood was small. This led me to start focusing on my interest in video games. I wanted to create something based on my experiences of having a rougher urban upbringing. I did not have much existing knowledge of Graphic Design before pursuing its study in college. I knew I wanted to create and design cartoons. My early inspiration came from watching cartoons. It didn’t matter which ones, I enjoyed them all, but my overall favorites were Looney Toons, Scooby Doo and Tom & Jerry. As my college career progressed, my focus began to shift. I was no longer working towards either cartoon design or game programming, but graphic design. Graphic Design was not the only thing that I worked to develop while in school. I also began to grow as a leader and a role model. I quickly became comfortable with speaking to not only my peers, but professors as well. This made it possible to broaden my relationships with both groups and form a fellowship of colleagues. I truly enjoy everything about ART. It starts with enduring what is within and delivering the concept of embracing what we gain. Knowledge is power. I really enjoy creating within different mediums. Much of my current work experience is with Adobe Suite. I am a recent graduate from The Art Institute of Washington with my BFA in Graphic Design. My passion is to embrace art and continue to be creative. My artistic style is very simple and clean yet expresses an edge that will take your thoughts further. I enjoy showing my creativity in all aspects of my life. I like to get things done the best way as possible, am very organized, and expressing ART any way to get the point of view across. I am currently beginning work with a new group of designers with the goal of forming a team that delivers art beyond pencil and paper by setting examples as young adults seeking positive lifestyles and attitudes within the community. We settled on the name NERDnation (a Notion to Embrace the Range of Designers,) a name that would show our ability to explore art in multiple forms- graphics design, photography, animation, game arts, fashion, and a variety of others. ART is Love. ART is Passionate. Follow your Dreams! Thanks to RAW natural born artists for extending this opportunity for me to express ART with my abilities and personal vision while building a network with other creative minds. It is truly a blessing. For more information and samples of my work please visit jjeterdesign.me
