Photography – Boston

Born in Detroit, MI, Jourdan settled with his family in Memphis, TN, in the early 2000's. He first developed interest in photography around 13 years old, fascinated by the powerfully contagious effects and experiences in combining written and visual storytelling. After graduating from high school, he went to Bates College, in Lewiston, ME, where he began with a focus on Photography but soon moved over to studies in Rhetorical Studies, Philosophy, and Visual 2D & 3D Design. He currently lives in Boston, Massachusetts, where he photographs people, landscapes and social settings, and reads and writes a lot. "I take pride in my daily journey of watching and studying the human experience. I get to have a conversation with the world around me on a daily basis and create images that draw upon the smallest of details to bring noise to the silence and a bit of tranquility to those moments." Focusing on race, class, gender & normality, involvement/community activism, & his own life experience, Jourdan creates visuals & narratives that place you before & within situations as though in the moment itself. His photography and writing have been featured in the Boston Globe, Boston.com, and a number of other galleries and publications in Boston and beyond. He also teaches photography and is co-founder of BLK MKT Boston, a community space providing resources and mentorship for creatives of color of all ages. Also, apparently he speaks in third person and quotes himself......Millenials.
