Photography – Los Angeles

While growing up, as a young child, I aspired to become an architect. Living in Chicago at the time, I remember being downtown and in such awe of the towering skyscrapers overhead. It gave me a real appreciation for design, angles and geometry. Shortly after, I dove heavily into music, playing piano, saxophone, trombone, guitar and ultimately drums. Photography was kind of an accident. Back when cell phone cameras were less than mediocre, I would receive compliments on the shots I would take. I had gotten laid off from a very good job that I had thought would be a career. I cashed in my 401k and bought a DSLR. Set the camera to manual and became a student again. I have spent nearly 2 years shooting street photography at night, thinking it was the best education given difficult lighting conditions, trying to capture candidly in those conditions and using only the lighting of the surrounding environment. It started off as a hobby while making music but it has since turned into a passion. I've been able to use those street shooting experiences in several other areas.
