Visual Art – San Francisco

I find an endless fascination in the visual study of living things, and the documentation of their physical complexities and imperfections. I find just as much satisfaction studying something as large as a forest, as I do when I document a small insect. Using the natural world as my subject matter allows me to to cultivate the patience required to become intimate with another living thing, to explore connections between all sizes and species of life, and to share that experience with others through my finished work. Life is a miracle. Each twig and leaf, each feather and strand of hair is a small study in perfection, and the fascination only increases the more closely you study them. To observe living things in all their amazing detail is to realize how much imperfection is required to create such a beautiful and well balanced object. The existence and complexity of life on earth amazes me daily, and the sense of divine mystery I feel when I study the natural world is what brings me back to my pages again and again.
