Visual Art – San Francisco

I have always been an artist and activist. Born and raised in Los Angeles, I moved to San Francisco in 2007 to broaden my spectrum of artistic media, and it was here where I began to empower myself as a voice for the voiceless. My canvas-based schooling evolved to three-dimensional forms of expression, including pottery, glass blowing, and landscape art. After receiving a degree in horticulture, and spending 4 + years knees deep in dirt, I felt an awakening, a reconnection, to the energy embedded in the history of the land. As I spend more time focusing on the beauty that soil can create, I have found myself being drawn more and more to its history. Aware of the controversy surrounding the treatment of native peoples with centuries-old ties to the land, I began recreating pieces of “Native American Art”. The Native American war bonnet is a true representation of nature, triumph, patience, life, death, and beauty. War bonnets are seen as items of great spiritual and mystic importance.
