Visual Art – Madison

I am a watercolor artist and illustrator, concentrating mainly on fantasy and mythological themes. I have always been interested in fairy tales and mythical beings. I spent many hours drawing unicorns and fairies as a small child. These interests continued throughout my life. In high school and college I discovered comics, and Japanese art. I now combine my love of fairy tales and myth with a playful fusion of art nouveau style, and inspirations from Japanese Ukiyo-e prints. I’ve always had a love of fashion and costumes which show up in elaborate detailed clothing on figures I paint. My work has been published in books and licensed for many products. Most recently I wrote and illustrated the instructional book "Watercolor Made Easy: Fairies and Fantasy" from Walter Foster. I have spent most of my life in Minnesota, but recently relocated to Madison Wisconsin. I studied art at Minnesota State University Moorhead and graduated with a BFA in illustration.
