Performing Art – Atlanta

Dance Artist, Choreographer and Poet born and raised in Knoxville, TN- Lakia Marion grew up very shy, didn’t speak many words and when she did it was, but a whisper. Always fascinated by the arts, movement, sight, and sound. Her time was spent creating, performing small skits and songs for her family. Before she knew words her soul knew the art of dance. It was through the arts where she found her voice. Lakia studied Ballet, Jazz, Modern and West African at Austin-East Performing Arts High School. These studies ignited a passion within her to learn and master her craft extensively. Her passion for the arts has matured into an exploratory dialogue of mind, body and text. A dialogue that examines experiential themes of Love, Identity and Spirituality. Her most recent work the "Great Wide Open" will premiere at the 2017 Undiscovered Choreographers showcase January 21, 2017 in Atlanta, Georgia . As one of the newest company members of Axam Dance Theatre Experience, Lakia looks forward to a year of growth, discovery and innovation.
