Lawless Revolution

Fashion – Denver

Lawless Revolution is a title for the mesh of art I make during this crazy time we live on this planet together. Lawless Revolution, aka Milinda Lawless, studied photography, ceramics and printmaking at The Evergreen State College back in the late 90\'s though due to my \"starving artist\" lifestyle after college, I had to modify my skills and art to suite my domestic role as a mom and soon began creating anything I could get my hands on. I taught myself how to sew after having my first child and making my own travel bag. I began working with vinyl and leather and was using similar cut out techniques I was familiar using in printmaking, translated to fabric. From that moment I began experimenting with detailed layering effects that created a stimulating and unique textile look. I began working with clothing and enjoy using vintage fabrics and blankets from Mexico. The sewing machine has been my main tool of creation as I use it to make bags, clothing, jewelry and large scale tapestries. My jewelry is made from mostly found objects, foreign coins, leather and animal parts and pieces. I also enjoy making large scale puppets and heads using papier mache and old magazines. I am deeply influenced by my Mexican Indian culture, using materials directly from the Motherland and incorporating elements of past lives, death, magic and nature into my wearable art pieces.
