Music – Washington, D.C.

Imagine a scenario where the Roots met the Red Hot Chili Peppers in N.E.R.D\'s basement; that would be the best way to envision the group Leftist. Consisting of the diverse talents of Nurideen Bashir, Mark Hatcher, Mouhamad Diabate, Ebadullah Ebadi and Mahir Maruf. While many performers may boast of having eclectic styles, the DMV natives are the truest essence of diversity and uniqueness. Mahir (guitar) is of Indian descent while Diabate (bass) was born in Cote d\'Ivoire. They are backed by Ebad (percussion) from Afghanistan and fronted by Deen (vocals) is from New Jersey and Mark (guitar) from DC. Leftist has been going five years strong and is just beginning to catch its full stride having traveled and performed from East to West coast, shared the stage with the likes of Brother Ali and opened for MGMT, among others. Leftist does not consider themselves a movement, rather they are out to make a statement that we are \"all that\'s left.\"
