Luminartists

Visual Art – Ottawa

Luminartists was founded by interactive artists Anthony Scavarelli and Henri Kuschkowitz, who while studying Interactive Multimedia and Design at Carleton University, realized a common vision of bringing art, design, and technology together in public spaces. Luminartists focuses on participatory art and experiential environments that can be interacted and engaged with by anyone and everyone – using the power of custom built technology to get passers-by involved in steering a constantly evolving harmony of visualization, motion, and sound.

Some past examples of Luminartists work involve an interactive wall at the Ottawa International Children’s Festival that could have its environment affected by the movements of visitors hands, a virtual puddle that could be danced upon to create music at Ottawa’s inaugural Nuit Blanche Festival, and an 80ft projection of a floating alien cube asking passers-by questions through Twitter about the human race on the side of Rideau Centre, located in Ottawa’s downtown core.

Luminartists uses its vast experience in art, design, and programming to create novel interactive experiences for anyone to enjoy, and all to remember. We aim to create dynamic environments that challenge peoples’ perceptions about how technology can be used to heighten our everyday social interactions in public forums; while striving for awe-inspiring and thought-provoking interaction and design.

“Bringing the limitless possibilities of the virtual world into the real one.”
