Mackenzie Baxfield

Music – Vancouver

Mackenzie is a local Vancouver Singer/Songwriter. Having completed Langara's Singer/Songwriter Certificate program, she's honed her skills and is beginning to make a name for herself. Early on, Mackenzie was so dedicated to performing, you would be able to see her rock the stage at at least 5 open mics a week. Always with her ukulele on her back, she's ready to serenade anyone who asks, or who happens to be nearby. The odd time, she'll even serenade people on the night bus on her way home. Her absolute favorite hobby is to play for the smokers outside of her favorite bar Pub340, where she's actually been dubbed "Pub340's ukulele wielding darling". For the last 4 years, Mackenzie has been a regular performer at the Anza club open mic, where she's connected with like-minded artists and started working on collaborations in hip hop. Mackenzie's original music has been described as a darker themed alternative folk. She's written about abusive relationships, the gritty imagery of Hastings, and the sad ending of your average one night stand. She's always loved performing a wide variety of covers and mashups by artists such as Frank Ocean, Ruth B, Mac Demarco, Vance Joy, and many more. She's got one of those unique powerful voices and will always put her own flare in any of her covers.
