Performing Art – Minneapolis

Mackenzie Lewis of Hudson, WI has devoted her life to dance for the past twenty years and continues to do so in college. Lewis will graduate in Spring 2013 from the University of Minnesota where she is pursuing a B.A. in dance. She performs locally and throughout the Twin Cities as a member of Rainy Day Cabaret Dance Company. Lewis has performed in the Minnesota Fringe Festival, Rhythmically Speaking, Renovate: Choreographer’s Evening, Kinetic Kitchen, Wake the Dead, Grimm Walks Tonight, Shapiro and Smith’s residency at the U of M Twin Cities, and many other venues and performances around the area. Lewis has been privileged to study with Carl Flink, Penelope Freeh, Karla Grotting, Linda Talcott-Lee, Paula Mann, Joanie Smith, and Erin Thompson. Lewis has worked under Black Label Movement, and Shapiro and Smith of the Twin Cities. Aside from performing, Lewis also teaches and choreographs throughout the area. Lewis is a dance instructor, choreographer, performer, and director of Dances, Chances, Circumstances at the Phipps Center. Choreographing for the Phipps Dance Company, The Phipps Children’s Theater and teaching Jazz, Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Lyrical, and Composition technique classes at the Phipps Center for the Arts for children, teens, and adults in the Hudson area. . Mackenzie enjoys every aspect of dance; her true passion lies in creating work, fostering aspiring dance students with their endeavors, and performing.
