Mason Haymes

Visual Art – Cleveland

Mason Haymes is an artist born in Cleveland, OH, who grew up near San Francisco, California. Mason is currently attending the Cleveland Institute of Art, planning to major in Painting and Drawing. He works primarily with spray paint and acrylic paint, but also with charcoal and oil paint. His work derives elements from both street art and art history. His work is heavily influenced from his earlier years spent exploring abandoned buildings and remote skate spots, all highly saturated with street art. His recent works have been large-scaled Masonite panels, covered in multiple lays of both spray paint and drip paint. The works appears to have depth, due to multiple lays of overlap, yet also highly crowded and chaotic. His work is visually busy, with an assortment of synthetic colors competing for attention.
