The use of symbolic imagery in my artwork allows for the expression of balance, emotion and harmony through metaphor. Mixed media, including acrylic and oil paint are used to create a composition of opposing elements which are unified as a cohesive whole. The sizes of each piece vary from 5”x10” to “48×48”. Painted with bright vibrant colors in contrast to striking black and white striped elements, each piece creates stunning duality. The unifying theme among these dualities is the principle of balance. Balance is powerful because without opposing elements, neither one could exist. The primary goal of my artwork is to bring the vision that I have to others, in a way that they can interpret into their own lives and use as inspiration. I often portray women with over-sized hands and extremely long arms. The distortion in my characters is a representation of hidden potential. This distortion allows for the female to embrace all of her capabilities and have the assets she needs to make the impossible, possible. The robot represents masculinity, strength and power while being alive, warm and emotional. Within this highly imaginative world are the elements of balance such as yin and yang, intuition and conscious thought, masculine and feminine, technology and nature. It is through the collaboration of these elements that each piece is successful in creating a symphony of harmonic balance.
