Visual Art – Denver

It was by accident that I became an emerging artist in Denver. A Colorado native, I have always expressed my artistic talent in the kitchen. I have a degree in Culinary Arts and have worked many chef jobs from Sous Chef to Pastry Chef to Restaurant Manager. I am now in my second year of nursing school, and am looking to obtain a Bachelor’s degree from CU. With a 3 year old daughter, an upcoming wedding this fall, work, and full-time school, I am often looking for small ways to smile and relieve some stress. This last March, I got a bottle of wine with a friend and decided to buy some art supplies and try something fun. I melted crayons on a canvas, added a little artistic flair of my own, and my first piece was born! What first started as a stress reliever turned into a hobby, then into what I like to call a drug habit. I began selling a few of my pieces and was trying to “just sell enough to be able to keep making them.” Now I have participated in several art shows and craft fairs and has opened a store on Etsy.com called Melt Gallery. I was a featured artist at Dazzle in April of 2013. I also make jewelry that is unique and fun! My jewelry can be seen at etsy.com/shop/rockajillyjewels. I am hoping to dedicate much more time in the future to my accidental passion!
