Growing up in Pisgah National forest in the mountains of Western North Carolina, I became fascinated with the arts at a young age. However, it wasn't until a vocational welding class that I developed a love for working with metal. Although I am mostly self taught (credit to past failures and Google) I have had the privilege to learn from some amazing metalsmiths, such as Benjamin Dory who was teaching a class at The Penland School of Arts and James Carter who was teaching in Carrboro, NC. I have always maintained at least small work space where I can explore new ideas and play with my creativity because the urge to create cannot simply be quelled.
