Photography – Perth

Owen Gregory utilises his strong interest in environmental and economic development issues to develop a contemplative, yet critical art. Owen has used his understanding of space, rhythm and light to develop a reflection on the pace of the world, its inequalities and the natural beauty arising from nature and contemplation. Interacting with his environment to create images rich in texture and emotion, his technique is based on hand-held long exposure manipulation, allowing to represent an evolving scene as a moment in time. Over the past seven years Owen has been working at developing a unique style, that he describes as “Motion Scape”, aiming at capturing light and movement and creating atmospheric photographs without the use of any assisted post-production techniques. His first photographic art exhibition, Sweet Disposition, was presented in 2011 in Perth and Melbourne followed soon after by Del Fierro – Inspired by the life and ambiguity of Iquitos. This series injects more color and rhythm and reinforces his narrative approach of life, inequality and discovery.
