Visual Art – Atlanta

Rachel Bullard is from a small town in northern New York. A textile designer and artist, she received her B.F.A. in Painting and Drawing from SUNY New Paltz in 2012 and her M.F.A. in Fibers from SCAD in 2014. She now calls Atlanta her home where she designs custom carpets for Shaw Floors and focuses on her personal practice. She specializes in hand painted botanical patterns in her textile designs while combining fiber and painting techniques in her fine art work focusing on a natural theme. There is always an element of narrative included in her work, illustrative as well as symbolic. With the use of florals, animals and figures she creates artwork that evokes a sweet store-tale feeling while staying true to her interest in deceased and skeletal creatures representing the beauty in decay. Rachel uses techniques that cross disciplines; drawing and painting on paper and fabric while machine and hand embroidering on all grounds. She wants to marry disciplines in her work, letting her rendering and technical abilities shine through. In her personal practice, she is constantly investigating the role vegetation plays within our daily lives and how it influences the way individuals express themselves.
