Visual Art – San Diego

Rita Bolla was born in Budapest in 1983. She received her MFA in Visual Arts in 2009, from the prestigious Hungarian University of Fine Arts. By this time, Rita had already won scholarships all around Europe with exhibitions in London, Marseille, Munich, Nuremberg, Helsinki and of course Budapest. In 2010 Rita moved to New York City, where she lived for two years. Her New York paintings appeared in several group shows and one solo exhibition. It was here that she truly began to explore figurative paintings. Even though photographs are a source of inspiration, she prefers to place her figures in unfamiliar settings and situations, which often brings both sureality and a dose of humor to her work. In 2012, Rita drove cross-country to southern California, where she now resides in the city of San Diego. Her artwork can be viewed at www.ritabolla.com.
