Photography – San Antonio

Like many other photographers as children, Ronni dabbled in photography using her mother's 35mm film camera. However, it was not until years after she had joined the military that she started pursuing the medium more seriously. While still active duty, she started working on her Associates of Arts in Photography through Academy of Art University. Despite multiple setbacks in her personal life, she finally finished it in 2015 and went on to complete her Bachelors of Fine Arts in 2016, receiving both degrees with honors. She is now working on her Masters of Fine Arts in Fine Art Photography, anticipating finishing it in 2019. Ronni’s ultimate goal is to teach photography while also working within her field. Currently Ronni is focusing on her formal approach, utilizing both digital and analogue photographic techniques. Although she often uses her Nikon DSLR, her true love is in her Hasselblad 500CM. While most of her work relies heavily on formal elements and composition, many of Ronni’s projects center on bringing awareness to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and/or women’s rights. Occasionally Ronni enjoys working with alternative processes and mixed media, as exhibited in her senior project entitled “Painted Photography,” which aims to compare the two mediums and pay homage to painters for their significant impact on photography. Although her working career in photography is still new, focusing on her personal studio since 2010, she completed a 4-month internship in 2016 at Treasured Memories Photography. Ronni published fine art portraits with the first two issues of Atomic Bombshells Magazine in 2012 and in 2016 she had 3 images from her Scanography project exhibited at the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art. Multiple photographers and professors have praised Ronni’s Master’s work for its elevated formalism, including the projects “Objectified Form” and “Looking Up.” She hopes to have both projects exhibited in the near future.
