Visual Art – Seattle

Born and raised in Rhode Island, Rosie Read is a visual artist currently living outside of San Francisco, California. With a background in science and a true passion for art, she creates abstract works in an environmentally conscious manner by repurposing scrap wood as an alternative to the traditional canvas. Her work is driven by her studies in water resources, the diversity in geography and color of the United States, aerial photography, and struggles with anxiety. The purpose is to create vibrant, emotionally charged art, which is full of movement and reminiscent of the organic shapes found in the natural environmental. Furthermore, only repurposed or reclaimed wood is used as her canvas in an effort to create in a manner that reduces environmental impacts.
