Sarah Lauder

Performing Art – Brisbane

My name is Sarah. I call myself a dancer, dance teacher and photographer.  I was born and raised in England where I did competitive gymnastics for 11 years. I moved to Nelson, New Zealand when I was 11 and quit gymnastics for ballet. After finding my passion for ballet I found my passion for photography during a holiday my family and I went on in Australia. I had a small pink Fujifilm camera and took an "amazing" photo of a Ladybird. This photo is what inspired me to want to take photography seriously. I invested more time in to photography (arty portraits) and I eventually started getting paid jobs. At the same time I was completing high school in New Zealand and completing my ballet exams. Two times I received the highest marks in NZ for my Advanced 1 and 2 IDTA Ballet exams and won scholarships for them. I then moved to Wellington to study full time dance at the Whitireia Performing Arts Centre where I came out with a Diploma in Performing Arts (Dance). My friends describe me as weird and crazy. They all know I jump to take any and every opportunity and that is how I ended up here in Australia. I wasn't afraid to leave home and adventure. I enioy adventures with a passion and I see the hard obstacles in life as fun adventures. I currently work at Sophie Clothing, a boutique store on Queen Street, which I absolutely love and I teach dance classes and workshops in and around Brisbane. I am also a self employed photographer. I am really enjoying life and I cannot wait to see what is next.
