Visual Art – Los Angeles

Subodh Maheshwari was born in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, North India where she learned folk art and classical music. She passionately believes: “In the threshold of my life, my present is the window to the past and a key to the future.” Her art is a fusion of Eastern symbolism and Western composition influenced by Rajasthani and Mogul art; and it is accented by Hindi and Sanskrit passages. Highly individual in style, her works have been described as emotional, mysterious, personal and humorous. “My paintings give me space to feel and express my visual delight in color, shape and form.” Subodh has participated in many shows nationally and internationally including the fourth Cosmopolitan Exhibition in the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. Among the numerous honors she has won is the Regional Fellowship Award at the University of California, Irvine, when she was earning her Masters degree in Fine Arts. She taught art for The University of California Irvine for 5 years and at Riverside Community College for the past 22 years. She paints on commission, and teaches art to all ages. Classes are held on weekdays, weekends and evenings. She gives private and group lessons, and workshops utilizing different mediums and subjects. She judges art shows, lectures and gives demonstrations, as well as teaches healthy creative cooking, and Hindi language classes. “I specialize in lifting and exercising your soul, body and mind through art and creativity. I get great pleasure and satisfaction in teaching my talents and experience to my students and I am very proud of their achievements.”
