Summer Brown

I am a graduate of Howard University class of 2001. I majored in drawing and painting and graduated Magna Cum Laude earning the B.F.A. in Painting. I received my M.F.A. in Museum Exhibition Planning & Design at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA., graduating Magna Cum Laude from Graduate School in 2004. Since graduation, I have worked at Staples & Charles, Ltd. as an Exhibit Designer; Hargrove Inc. as a Special Events /Tradeshow/ Exhibit Designer; U.S. Army Center of Military History as a Curatorial Assistant, National Institute of Health as an Exhibit Coordinator and currently at Howard University as a Professor in the Fine Arts Department. I\'m still very active as a practitioner in my craft. I paint and draw often, and receive commissions to produce paintings, business cards, flyers, and t-shirts for friends and associates. My most recent exhibition “The Battle of and for The Black Face Boy: A Visual Response to the Poem by Nikky Finney,” was held at the Brentwood Gallery Arts Exchange in Brentwood, MD.
