Patrick Takata

Born in Portland Oregon, Patrick moved to Canada in the fall of 2015 after completing his GED to pursue painting and drawing at Emily Carr University of Art and design. Through Emily Carr's foundation program he quickly realized a passion for photography and poetry that was much stronger than what he had originally sought out at the university. His art practice explores ideas revolving around mental health and gender identity. Paired with his poetry and interviews, his works form a dialogue between himself and his peers. the work is not only digital but also uses alternative photography processes that date as far back as the late 1700s. He has also shot for local brands and been commisioned to complete other commercial work. At the moment he is currently working on completing his final year at Emily Carr University of Art and Design for his Bachelors of Fine Arts in Photography Degree.
